In the most recent hurricane called Erin we can see how these affects can linger long after the storm has passed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In Erin&#8217;s case she was so large and powerful in her wake she left a visible swath of cold water on the ocean surface.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She did this by churning up the deeper colder water deep below the surface while absorbing the warmth of the existing surface water taking it North with her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the picture below we can see she lowered the water temperature by 7 or 8 degrees.
