In nature’s never ending struggle for survival sea creatures adapt to the ever changing circumstances of their habitat. Whether it be influenced by man or by planetary changes. For example years ago it was unheard of for Great White sharks to travel into the Gulf of America or Mexico whichever term you prefer. The water was thought to be not cold enough. Just yesterday morning a Great White was spotted by a charter boat in Destin Florida. Only 5 miles offshore where the water is still shallow. The shark was not interested in the fish they were catching it was enthralled in the vibration of the engine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We now know through tagging from satellite readings that Great Whites are regular visitors to the Gulf. And there may be more to it than just water temperatures. How does one explain the many whale sightings in recent years. Whale’s are being spotted closer to shore than we are accustomed to seeing. And not only closer to shore species of whale are being seen in areas they are not known to traverse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the other hand Cobia which used to travel by the thousands every spring through the beaches of Destin Florida have become scarce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Its hard to believe but they are being spotted in large numbers off the coast of Long Island. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Migratory patterns change for fish as they adapt to survive whether it be from fishing pressure or just following their food sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The same is true for Tuna. Bluefin & Yellowfin tuna are traveling down the California coast in schools so large fisherman & scientists have yet to know why. The simplest explanation is usually the truest. Nature is continually evolving and that holds true for our beloved sea creatures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
