Ever since mankind started trying to fit a square peg in a round hole (unsuccessfully). We have also been advised to eat at least one “square meal” everyday in order to become a more less rounded person. A “piece” of advice that has been met with varying results. But did you know the term “square meal” does not mean all your food groups are aligned properly. The term actually originated at sea where wooden plates on tall ships were always made square so they would not become “flying saucers” in the ships galley.
You can read more about these and other nautical sayings and how they apply to our everyday lives by visiting the nautical sayings portion of this website. You can also order a book thats sure to “fly” off the shelves.
